This is the first time the Ullevi Stadium will host an equestrian event. Ullevi Stadium in central Gothenburg, will host championship level competitions as well as peripheral competitions in Dressage and Jumping. Ullevi Stadium first opened in 1958 and has undergone several conversions. In 2012, its audience capacity for concerts was increased to 75,000 places (40,000 spectator seats at sports events). Over the years, Ullevi has been the main arena for the World and European Championships in Athletics, international football events, speedway championships and concerts. One of Sweden’s largest solar cell facilities is installed on the roof of Ullevi’s VIP gallery. With 600 square metres of solar cells, it generates sufficient eco-friendly electricity to cover Ullevi’s annual energy consumption for all lighting of the arena pitch. Ullevi is within comfortable walking distance of the competitions, public activities and exhibitions at Heden village. We look forward to a week with a magical atmosphere and many unforgettable experiences.
Heden Arena is a recreational area located between Ullevi Stadium and Kungsportsavenyn, Gothenburg’s main boulevard. The Gothia Cup, the world’s largest junior football tournament, is held there every year. The Para-Equestrian Dressage, Driving dressage and cone driving competitions will be held at Heden Arena. In addition, the marathon will start at Heden Arena as well. The large exhibition area will offer fantastic shopping for horse lovers as well as plenty of shows, exhibitions and taster activities for the whole family. Follow the championship events at close range and experience the exciting atmosphere. Free entry, open to everybody.
SLOTTSSKOGEN city park
Slottsskogen City Park is Gothenburg’s very own park, recreation area and green meeting place. It is a wonderful place for walks, sports, fun and relaxation. Major events such as the Way Out West music festival are held here every year, and the park is the starting point for Göteborgsvarvet, the world’s largest half marathon. Slottsskogen contains a wildlife park where you can see elks, Gotland ponies, Gute sheep and other Nordic animals. Barnens Zoo is a popular children’s attraction in the summer, where visitors can meet baby pigs and goats at close range. And don’t miss the seals’ and penguins’ feeding time. Slottsskogen mainly consists of natural woodland with walking paths surrounded by indigenous trees such as linden, beech, maple and several oak varieties. Some of the trees are almost 300 years old. Bring your friends and family to Slottsskogen to watch the end of the Driving marathon.
