A sustainable event

The Longines FEI European Championships 2017 will reflect the City of Gothenburg’s high ambitions for sustainability. Our aim is to make the championships socially, environmentally and economically sustainable. In order to succeed, we must maintain a continuous dialogue with visitors, volunteers, active participants, partners/sponsors and suppliers.

We want the championships to be welcoming, inclusive and accessible for everyone. As many people as possible should have the opportunity to attend the championships and experience the excitement and atmosphere first hand. The fact that the championships will take place in central Gothenburg and many of the events and activities are free of charge will enable more people to attend. Equestrianism is also unique in that men and women compete against each other on equal terms, which strengthens the event from a sustainability perspective.

Activities and events with free entry

Entry to Heden is free of charge all week. The combined driving and para-equestrian dressage events will be held at Heden, as well as taster activities, shows and exhibitions. – The marathon will finish in Gothenburg’s beautiful Slottsskogen city park.

Sustainable event

We are continuously working to optimise the sustainability and accessibility of the event. We aim to have the event environmentally certified according to the Swedish Environmental Base standard. We will update you on our efforts to make the championships sustainable.
